Anyone have any comments on a scoop that can be mounted on the 3 PT hitch, particularly the one from Northern Tool? Does the self tipping feature work OK? Are they useful or is it better to use something else?

My neighbor has one, and for what he does with it (move mulch, crushed stone) it seems to work great. I was curious about them also, but when I saw how easy they were to back into a pile of (something), pull away, and dump it where he wanted, I was impressed.
That's about ALL I'd imagine it can do, but it does it well.

Front end loaders work much better. BUT there is a $2000 price difference.
I used the little scoop on the back of my Ford for years. Pulling forward works like a slip scraper.
Gravels usually nessetate a minor modification to keep material from wedging between the scoop and the frame.
They work good I used one for years, I moved a lot of dirt with the little Ford and that scoop. I traded the tractor on a new one and got more than I paid for it on a new one.
The new one has FEL and I can move almost 3X as moch in 1 bucket now. ....

My "Poor mans" Loader. I have used it to move mulch and much dirt. I own a Christmas Tree farm and I used it to fill in tree spade holes. I would drive over the holes and dump the bucket. It has been very affective. I have moved alot of material in a short time. It is not as easy or effective as a loader obviuosly, for $245 I won't complain. From Northern Hydraulic& Tool. ....
